▌ Timeline
Where it says “year inferred”, the paper has no year: it comes from the weekday, which only fits that year in the whole decade.
▌ Kaneda
Between the tickets, the folder is lined with Akira: whole pages of photocopies from Katsuhiro Otomo’s manga — the bikes, Tetsuo, the gang — and a still from the film of Kaneda firing his laser gun. And on the spine, the video cover.
That is where KANNEDA comes from. The name doesn’t date from the streaming years: it comes from these years, from Kaneda, the one with the red bike. That is why the red on this site is Akira red and the header says カネダ.
The photocopies aren’t reproduced here: they are Otomo’s panels. What follows is what in the folder was made or written by Agustín.

A reduced-price ticket for “Abiss New World, afternoon, 1994” (“Consulado presents”). Over Drive stickers: “O/D Tarde 1994” and a “Noche” one with RR.PP. handwritten on it. In the middle, a group photo from Abyss, Atocha 38: “Ni son todos los que están… ni están todos los que son” (not everyone here belongs, not everyone who belongs is here), “Produced by Ricky & J. Carlos, music by Abel DJ”, and “Agus” handwritten in the RR.PP. box: Agustín was a promoter at Abyss. A red Van-Va’s ticket, number 000123. Around them, Powell Peralta and Bad Boy Club skate stickers.
Over Drive, “Noche”, Paseo de Extremadura 152: the access card, several stickers and the “Over Drive Anniversary” one. Epsilon: “Expansive Sound” and the afternoon one, at Cea Bermúdez 8 (Ríos Rosas and Quevedo metro). Now After Hours, Serrano Jover 5, Argüelles metro. Attica, Midian and The Omen. And at the bottom, Van-Va’s, from Parque de las Bombas in Collado Villalba.
A face with crosshair glasses, “New Balance Athletic Shoe” and the cover of Akira on video, from Record Pictures: “Neo-Tokyo está a punto de E-X-P-L-O-T-A-R” (Neo-Tokyo is about to explode), limited edition. Kaneda, with his laser gun.
The Mission, Griñón road at the corner of calle La Fábrica, El Álamo: “Invitation, 2nd drink” and “Dee Jays Club Party”. Abyss New World, Atocha 38: “Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 November, from 7 pm”. Now, afternoons, on Serrano Jover. Spiral, Future Sound Frequency and a sticker with a Z.
The Abyss invitation doesn’t print the year. In the nineties, 8 November only fell on a Tuesday in 1994, the same year as the ticket on the front.
KEA, Barcelona road, km 9.2: “End-of-summer party at the Cyberdome”, twelve hours of non-stop party. DJs: Christian (Epsilon), Tobías (Over Drive), Quique and Raúl (Friends), Txitxi (Space), Abel (Abyss N. W.), Rafa (Radical), Napo and Tono (Attica), Pedrito (Epsilon), Panchi (Kaos), Valen (KEA), Pelayo (T.N.T.) and the launch of Michell’s (Fun Factory) latest record. After-after-party: 1,200 pesetas with an invitation, 1,600 without, 2,000 with a drink and a free T-shirt. “KEA wants to dedicate this party to all those who, through tragic twists of fate, can no longer be with us.” And at the bottom: “Remember: drive carefully on your way here. We are the party.”
The poster doesn’t print the year.
Over Drive, “Friday 15, night”, with Ricky, Juan Carlos, Abel and Tobías: “free entry until 3 am”. Radical, “Musical fusion, summer ’95, Under the Sun”. Epsilon, 1996. And the postcard for Ghost in the Shell’s video release by Manga Vídeo, 11 October 1996: “It found a voice… now it needs a body.”
Two of the things stuck on this page aren’t shown: they are covered over in the colour of the paper.
A ticket for a U2 Zoo TV Tour party: “No te quedes a medias… ¡Vive dos veces…!” (“Don’t stop halfway… Live twice…!”), with “Party” written across it. Stuck over it later, the still of Kaneda.
Four Now afternoon tickets: “Tarde · Now · C/ Serrano Jover 5 · Metro Argüelles”.
Cropped from a page of the folder; the rest of the page is someone else’s handwritten notes.
Kept in the folder, a drawing by Agustín in ballpoint on squared paper: the inside of a nightclub, seen from above. The bar, the plants, log stools and, at the back, the raised area.
